Personal Description:

Hello,

I am a 26 year old primary school teacher from Bedfordshire. I have recently returned back to England after living and working as a primary school teacher (grade 3) and private tutor in Dubai UAE. Throughout my time in Dubai I have carried out daily tutoring for a range of families which really added to the wonderful experience for me - I loved the personalised aspect of supporting a child's progress and also in the bond which was built between myself, child and family. This is my reason for wanting to pursue private tutoring back home here in England.

I am a very driven, energetic individual and am always seeking to explore different places and turn my hand to something new - hence I ventured out to the UAE to experience an alternative culture. I have also previously worked in America teaching horse riding and travelled around Asia, some of South America and other parts of North America. I strongly believe that travelling and cultural experiences broaden the mind and I know that it has complimented my performance as a professional teacher.

I am also a very active individual and enjoy a healthy, outdoors lifestyle. I have grown up with horses and it still remains a great passion and interest of mine. I have somehow developed quite an interest in extreme sports and have found myself completing several skydives during my travels.

Having had a fantastic few years away in different countries I have now decided it is time for me to move back and settle at home. I am very excited to get back to greenery, my family, British weather, warm clothes and proper tea! Likewise I am very enthusiastic about getting back into teaching in British schools and continuing my private tutoring back here in the UK.

Tutoring Experience:

As stated above I have spent the last 18 months working as a primary class teacher in a very large (and affluent) school in Dubai (ten form entry school!). My grading has been consistently good to outstanding throughout my time at The School of Research Science and pupil progress has consistently been above 94%. I feel I have developed my teaching skills in facing the challenge of class sizes of 34 children with no learning support as provided back in the UK. Also my experience in working with children with EAL and SEN has strongly developed as this percentage was very high.

Alongside my class teacher role I carried out daily tutoring for local families of children ranging from six to fourteen years old. The feedback from their teachers and parents of noticeable progress within the focussed subjects was identified.

Previous to this I had worked for several years teaching at schools in Bedfordshire (Year four and five) and been consistently graded as good - outstanding in all observations carried out by the senior leadership team and Ofsted.

Furthermore I have also carried out several voluntary placements 'teaching english as a foreign langugae' (based on my TEFL qualification) such as in Madrid for two consecutive years - this teaching was to adults.

Tutoring Approach:

During my time in Dubai I carried out private tutoring (on a daily basis including weekends) for a range of different families varying from affluent families to lower socio economic groups. The age ranges I tutored were between six to fourteen years of age covering the main core subjects of maths, english and science. I thoroughly enjoyed tutoring and particularly the one-to-one aspect where I could really identify the individual needs of each child and support them in a personalised way to secure progress.
