I am a vibrant, friendly and very dedicated tutor who specialises in optimising the way children study to maximise their potential. As an ex medical student from the University of Liverpool and a current English literature student at the University of Warwick, my passions lies in biology and English literature. I went to Aylesbury High School, where I was Deputy Head girl and achieved an A* in English Literature and an A in biology, as well as 8 A*s and 2 As at GCSE.
I have tutored children for a number of years. My aim in my teaching is to have a holistic approach, not focusing on one aspect of the child, rather working on improving their whole attitude to the subject and to study in general. After working in schools, breakfast clubs, special needs group sessions and one on one tutoring, I am skilled at tailoring my work to the individual and making learning enjoyable, engaging and effective.
I have tutored for the past years in my local primary and secondary schools. I have also worked with children with special needs for two years. My lessons are well thought out and are effective at getting children to engage with what they are being taught. I have had a number of cases of children increasing by 2 or more than their predicted grades. My mentality is that whatever the child's ability there is always room for improvement and every child has the potential to achieve excellence.
I believe that kinestetic learning breeds optimum results, so I strive to make the sessions fun and interactive and most of all catered to the child. I will provide weekly check up work, so that what is taught in the lesson can be reflected on during the week. I use progress and feedback sheets to ensure that the areas for improvement are targeted. With younger students, my emphasis is more on instilling a passion for the subject. If a child can enjoy what they are a learning, it provides a great foundation to build on when studying the subject in the future.
