Personal Description:

WINNER of the Southern Daily Echo Education Award for College/Sixth Form Teacher of the Year 2017.

I am a fully qualified Teacher of Mathematics and Subject Leader of A-Level Maths, currently teaching at Barton Peveril College. I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2008 with a Masters of Mathematics (MMATH) qualification, and in the following year completed a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics Education. Outside of in-class time, I put on regular revision sessions during the week where I work with students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, in which I build particular differentiated resources designed to scaffold students' learning. Alongside this, I continually update and expand my **Contact Detail Removed** channel: **Removed By Admin**, which is focused on supporting my students and students nationally with their A-Level and GCSE Mathematics revision throughout the year, tallying up nearly 6 million views so far.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught A-Level Mathematics (both 1st and 2nd years) since 2010, and have also taught the Core Maths Level 3 Certificate qualification. I have also taught A-Level Further Mathematics, both 1st and 2nd years. I have taught in both Secondary and Sixth Form College environments, teaching students with a range of learning styles. I have taught Key Stage 3 Mathematics, GCSE Foundation and Higher, A-Level Maths and A-Level Further Maths. The units I have taught successfully at A-Level include Core 1, 2, 3 and 4, Further Pure 1, 2, 3 and 4, Decision 1 and 2, Mechanics 1 and 2, and Statistics 1 and 2. I am also well versed in the new A-Level Mathematics qualification to be taught from September 2017.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my experience as a teacher, it is vital to adapt resources and teaching approaches to each individual. I love my subject and I have a lot of experience in teaching complicated topics to students with many different learning styles. Through this experience, I am confident in teaching the vast majority of the A-Level Maths and Further Maths syllabus, and I make sure that my tuition is always scaffolded to ensure a strong progression of learning, as well as challenging to extend understanding. I promote questioning from my students, as this will only lead to a greater understanding of the topics they are studying.
