
I received ten 9s at GCSE in english literature, english language, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, history, geography and German and an 8 in art (all A*s). Additionally, I scored 100% on my English literature GCSE. I also have experience in writing and passing the 11+ exams for both private and grammar schools. I have just graduated from the Henrietta Barnett School and am on a gap year.
I was a maths prefect at my old school, responsible for aiding younger students who were struggling as well as providing presentations on interesting areas of maths beyond just the school curriculum. Furthermore, I have had experience teaching English to underprivileged children through charities. I am therefore able to effectively tailor my teaching strategies to the ability of the student.
The hardest part of revising for exams is understanding what you are doing right and wrong. I aim to provide scientifically backed strategies that took me years to develop through trial and error and research that helped me achieve top grades and will advise how to personalise these to a student’s particular learning habits. I also have long comprehensive flashcards and notes that I will provide, although I will always recommend making your own. Moreover, having had experience through myself and my peers, I will monitor students to ensure that they are where they should be at in terms of ability, ensure they are working consistently and provide them with ‘target grades’ to work towards. As a student, it is always hard to understand what is feasible for you to achieve and so I will ensure that the student is ambitious without becoming overwhelmed by their goals. In my experience students can often perform much better than their school or environment gives them credit for.
