Information About Isabel - Falmouth tutor
This is how 4 referees rated Isabel:
I am currently on study leave from first year at Durham University studying French and Spanish which is not only a subject to me but a passion and hobby. I spent two years in France before going to university, working as a waitress in various regions, familiarising myself with this diverse country alongside the adventurous and cultural pursuits it has to offer! I speak French fluently from my time there and my grammar and exam skills are very refined due to my higher education so far at Durham. I am very passionate about languages and believe that they are not something that should be dismissed as they are the gateway to travels, international work and cultural appreciation!
I tutored a GCSE student predicted a C who ended up achieving an A* grade in her final exams. I have done a lot of casual teaching also because I love transferring my knowledge and inspiring others to learn a language, a skill I believe to be indispensable today.
I have also taught swimming to children and done sports coaching, all which creates a patient, positive teacher.
Depending on the needs of the student, I think one-on-one sessions are the most effective. I concentrate on areas of weakness and try to cover most topics in French so that the student gets used to working in the target language which is always the hardest barrier to overcome! I am a very friendly, encouraging person who understands first hand how difficult language learning can be and have many tricks up my sleeve to ease the process! I hope to expand vocabulary knowledge, grammar and contextual knowledge in the student and motivate them to find their passion for this awesome subject! If it is exams the student is aiming for, we can concentrate on exam skills specific to the exam board.
