Personal Description:

My name is Imogen , and I am 24 years old. I studied Theology and Religion at Oxford University for my undergraduate degree, also focusing on history and the representation of religion in literature. I am currently doing a Masters Degree at Durham University, having gained a scholarship, focusing on historical Theology. I have an offer to start on the prestigious TeachFirst course beginning in September 2018, and am dedicated to tutoring from now until then.

In addition to my university qualifications, I gained A* grades at A Level in English Literature (with over 98%) and Philosophy and Ethics, (gaining 100% in all modules), and also received a D2 grade in History Cambridge Pre-U qualification (which is the equivalent to an A* at A Level). I also received an A grade in English Language A Level.

My key academic skills are in Religious Studies, English Literature/Language and History, but also have broader skills in German (up to GCSE), Sociology and Anthropology. I attended Oxford University between 2012 and 2015, and would of course be more than happy to give help with Oxbridge entrance, too.

For more casual learners, I have wider interests in the history of religious art, representation of religion in literature and media, and religious history from the Reformation onwards. I have a particular specialism in changes to religion in western Europe from 1789 onwards, changes in attitude and secularisation, and the work of German Theologians up to, including and after the Second World War.

I am originally from the North East, and am living in Durham currently. I am open to travelling in order to tutor.

I am offering half price for the first session.

Tutoring Experience:

I am an offer holder for TeachFirst beginning in September 2018, from which I will gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Leadership (PGDE).

Before starting my Masters degree at Durham this year, I worked for 2 years in the City of London. As part of this, I worked closely with the Prince's Trust - mentoring and tutoring young people from age 13-22, giving careers advice and work experience. Because of the success of this work, I was asked by the Careers and Education On-boarding Team at Prince's Trust to give a workshop to their national team.

I have also worked as a Tutor during my undergraduate degree, and was an academic mentor throughout my school and university career, and have led seminars during my Masters degree.

Tutoring Approach:

I want to offer a tutoring service which is flexible, tailored and casual - giving a holistic approach to education which, while including key curriculum, encourages enthusiasm about the subject at hand above and beyond the set goals any tutees need to hit. It is my belief that the best education is one which crosses curriculum boundaries - inspiring new ways of seeing the world and links betweens subjects, which will ultimately strengthen knowledge of each course in its own right.

I want build the confidence of my tutees' approaches to their own learning; enabling them to lead where they are interested, giving them the necessary tools to explore their academic experience in new and exciting ways. First and foremost, I want to be a guide; working collaboratively on what should be an exciting and fulfilling journey.
