Information About Imogen - Bayswater tutor
I have a deep interest in academic work: in 2011 I graduated from Oxford with a first class degree in Theology where I specialized in philosophy and the connection between aesthetics and devotion. In 2014 I completed a masters degree in Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art where I specialized in British Modernism. I am about to begin a PhD at the Royal College of Art tracing the influence of cybernetics on design in Britain and America in the 1960s and 70s.
I have extensive teaching experience, since graduating in 2011 I have prepared numerous students for the 11+ entrance exams (teaching Maths, English, Reasoning and Interview Technique). I am well versed in the specific entrance requirements of the leading London day schools having prepared students for entry to Westminster Under School, St Paul’s Girls’ School, City of London School, Godolphin & Latymer, Christ’s Hospital School, Francis Holland, Colet Court and Highgate. I have an excellent success rate among past students. I have also worked in Switzerland on a lengthy placement preparing two girls for the admissions to Sevenoaks School and The Cheltenham Ladies’ College and have taught two intensive 11+ revision courses.
I am passionate about the importance of education and through practice I have learnt how crucial it is for the tutor to tailor the approach to fit the learning style of the individual student. I enjoy interaction with children and employ a lively and empathetic approach to learning. I ask each new student to complete a pre-assessment, to gain a specific picture of their level and areas of need. I then devise a schedule of work to be undertaken so that the lessons take on a structured format. I provide parents with constant feedback as to their child’s rate of progress.
