Teaching has always been my passion and my ambition. I have a particular passion for enthusing children with a love of the written word in all forms, and enabling them to develop their own analytical skills. My extensive and diverse roles over the last 20 years include: large group teaching in a primary school setting; founding and developing my own chain of nurseries; tutoring children from ages five to twelve in their own homes; teaching home educated children both individually and in small groups, as well as teaching my own children all core curriculum subjects.

Successfully supporting primary aged pupils with their learning across a range of subjects and situations:

o Tutoring children aged 4 to 12 in English skills to help with their transition from curriculums in other countries
o Tutoring children preparing for exams such as the 7+/8+. I have been extremely successful in helping students gain places at top London schools such as Highgate, South Hampstead and UCS.
o Supporting children in their homework and in areas in which they are struggling with at school
Home Education and Small Group Tutoring 2005 Present
Using my teaching skills to successfully organise and teach small groups of home educated children. Effectively teaching my own children at home in all areas of the National Curriculum in the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 and GCSE level.
o Developed individual education plans for each child which ensure their specific learning styles are addressed; and working on a one to one basis with each child and managing their individual strengths and weaknesses.
o Planning, developing and teaching each subject in a stimulating approach to maintain interest, with a particular emphasis on maths and literacy.
o Organising small group literacy workshops with Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 home educated children to further develop their skills in reading comprehension, group debate, and group speaking.
o Successfully adapted my own childrens curriculum and educational activities to offer to small groups of Key Stage 2 and 3 children for in-demand subjects such as Geography, Science and Engineering.
o Developed a year long museum programme for groups of home educated children (Key Stage 1 and 2), taking advantage of directed sessions to further develop the childrens knowledge in subjects such as art appreciation, history, and science.
o Teaching online English classes in areas such as analysing literature, learning to write effectively, essay writing, poetry and creative writing.
Founder, Managing Director and Teacher at Blooming Babies Day Nursery, 1999-2007
Founded and successfully operated Blooming Babies Nursery, which is based on my principle that nursery care can engage children in enriching and educational play. Wrote and developed a successful pre-school curriculum and sold the nurseries as successful, OFSTED praised settings in 2007.
o Successfully developed educational play methodology which attracted mothers interested in enriching their childrens play and learning.
o Received local, regional and national recognition and awards for this successful approach including Winner Shell LiveWIRE Young Business Woman of the Year for the South East of England 2000
Teacher, Infant School, 1996-1998
Taught Foundation Stage children, shaping their formative experience of successful learning in a formal setting
o Effectively integrated into an already existing cohesive staff group
o Took on board new national guidelines for changes to teaching methods
o Successfully managed a class of 30 children with no teaching assistant
o Received very positive OFSTED report
My experience has reinforced my knowledge that children learn best in a one to one setting, with individually tailored programmes that cater for their specific learning style. By assessing how a child learns most effectively, and tailoring the teaching towards this, I can maximise the benefits they receive. Keeping the learning fun and stimulating through activities they find motivating is also key.
