Personal Description:

Guitar lessons in Chichester
I offer guitar tuition at the best price in Chichester, guitar lessons start at £15 for 30 minutes and £25.00 for one hour. Each student is treated as an individual and lessons are tailored to suit you. I use up to date teaching methods, using the songs you want to play delivered in a fun and formative fashion. Below is a short description of my experience with the guitar. Feel free to get in contact if you would like to know more about me or how taking guitar lessons with me can help you improve as a player.

Starting the Guitar
On my 11th Birthday I received my first guitar. I took up lessons at my school and started playing at every opportunity I could. By the time I was 12 I was teaching myself from books and the internet, and spent hours at home trying to emulate all my favorite guitarists, especially Slash! I spent hours outside of school playing as often as I could and the guitar has remained my number one passion ever since.

Learning the Blues
I had always wanted to travel and used the opportunity to travel to Thailand to study under an amazing, well established blues guitarist. Here I developed my love for the blues, and under his guidance I started to play blues guitar. Upon returning to the U.K I took up tuition with David Ratcliffe, an RGT registered guitar tutor. Under David I really advanced as a guitar player. With my new found confidence I joined a local band in Catford. We played mostly blues covers and I continued my lessons and practice for a while before the road beckoned a second time.

Starting to teach the Guitar
I travelled to New Zealand to teach 1-1 instrumental lessons to young budding students. I enjoyed watching my students grow and teaching them all the things I had learned over the years. I formed a band with some friends I had made during my time in Christchurch and started to play the local music scene. We also started working on our own material. The song ‘That Place’ is one of the songs that came out of these sessions and can be heard on the ‘Listen‘ section of the site.

Chichester
I decided returning to University would be a great way to help me advance as a guitar teacher, and give me the credentials and knowledge needed to give students the best experience possible. I applied to the University of Chichester as it has one of the largest and liveliest music courses in the Country. I flew back to Audition in February 2013 and gained a place at the University to study a BMus Jazz Music degree. After graduating from Chichester University with a First Class (Hons) in Jazz, I went on to study a Masters at the University of Southampton. Southampton University is renowned for its high standard in music, and was the perfect environment for me to push myself even further.

Tutoring Experience:

Today
I am now teaching and playing in Chichester full time. I play live every week in a number of professional bands, and teach at Chichester college and privately. I have been lucky enough to open for Scouting for girls, work alongside members of the Rizzle Kicks, attend workshops with Nigel Price (resident guitarist at Ronnie Scotts) and Scott McGil (world renowned fusion guitarist) and perform alongside some of the countries top musicians. I am constantly learning by being so immersed in the world of music, and this is what allows me to teach musicians what they need to know to maximize their own potential. I have also been lucky enough to teach for the Band Project, working alongside some very prestigious musicians and teaching you budding guitarists how to play in a band setting.

Tutoring Approach:

Why have lessons?

Why have lessons with me?
Teaching is my passion, and I enjoy teaching people how to play as much as I enjoy playing. I have been offering guitar lessons in Chichester for a number of years now. I am registered**Removed By Admin** and am happy to put students through their grades. I currently have 100% pass record and teach all the way up to grade 8. I teach a wide range of styles that include rock, blues, jazz, Latin, acoustic styles and much more. I teach a comprehensive understanding of theory and performance techniques as well as how to improvise and play in a band situation. I can also teach students how to compose music and write their own songs. Lessons are fun and relaxed, I am fully DBS checked and parents are welcome to sit in on lessons if they wish.
