I am a qualified accountant who is changing career into teaching mathematics at secondary level, and looking to help with private tutoring. I have 3 children ranging from 19 to 7 years, and also coach children in sport.
Iam a mature PGCE student in Secondary Mathematics.
Encouraging and persuasive, I believe that the best approach is to coach the indivdual into recognising that they are capable of achieving their aim. All problems, in Mathematics or otherwise, can be broken down into a series of simple steps, and I follow this building block approach to give pupils an undertanding of the subject. I have a very cheerful outlook, and try to introduce a fun element into the tutoring; this will almost certainly be in addition to the normal school workload so it is imperative that the pupil looks forward to tutoring sessions, and can enjoy the experience.
