Information About Ian - Haringey tutor
I am an energetic and enthusiastic person with excellent inter-personal and communicative skills. Having graduated from University I am looking into a career in teaching and see tutoring as the perfect opportunity to gain some early experience as well as helping out the students themselves. I am committed to continuing and spreading my subject throughout the country and hope this enjoyment of the Ancient Languages is something I can pass on to students.
I have previously taught at a Primary School, bringing Latin to Year 5 students outside of their curriculum through volunteering with a charity. I have received excellent feedback from some of the (originally sceptical) staff and been invited to return in September to continue my work. I have also been a Transition Mentor for 1st Year University students, helping them with everything from academic issues to personal ones. As such, I feel I am equipped to relate to students of all age ranges and abilities.
I am happy to take a flexible approach to tutoring, either focusing on the student's self-defined areas of weakness, or creating a more wide-ranging programme. I can provide additional materials to compliment textbooks/grammar books/dictionaries and have experience of adapting a curriculum to suit individuals needs. I believe it is important to get the student engaging with the subject in order to encourage the self-interest which drives most academic ambition.
