I am a friendly and enthusiastic Maths teacher who has a wealth of experience of working with students who have been underachieving in Maths.
I am happy to travel a short distance or can tutor from my home which is located towards the Old street end of Pitfield street and have availability on weekdays between 5pm and 7pm
I have worked continuously as a Maths Teacher since September 2008, working in both Secondary School and Sixth Form college. During this time I have developed a secure knowledge of the curriculum for both foundation and higher GCSE. My current role is as head of Maths at a school which provides alternative provision for students with a wide variety of additional learning needs, including Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD and SEMH
I have also taught and tutored students in the the following AS-Level Modules: Core 1, Core 2, Statistics 1, Mechanics 1 and Further Pure 1.
I believe that with Maths the most vital element to successful tuition is developing situations which force the student into thinking and doing for themselves. Through this they are able to confidently state what it is they have done and why it is this way, if they cannot, it is clear that more work needs to be done.
It is important that students are not merely learning a series of formulas and rules, but understanding maths holistically, so that they can use the skills they learn in a variety of scenarios.
I provide a large focus on test materials, as this allows the students to be able think around and tackle the problems they will have to solve in their examinations.
