This is how 2 referees rated Hursh:
I have worked in Electronic industry, designing circuits for use in communication systems as well as working as an accountant. I consider myself to have strong numerical skills that I am keen to pass on to learners of all ages.
I like to research on the latest news on teaching Mathematics, be up to date with related pedagogies and how to make learning more fun in the subject.
I have worked as a Mathematics teacher in many different secondary schools in the Midlands and East Anglia. I have Qualified Teacher Status alongside my PGCE in Mathematics on top of my degree in Electronic Engineering.
I have tutored on and off for 4 years now, I am also an examiner for functional skills with an examining board in England.
The above makes me unique in that I know exactly what is needed for learners to succeed in examinations whilst developing numerous skills along the way. I have a deep knowledge of Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and know the new functional skills material well.
I have a strict approach to tutoring in that even in schools, I expect good effort from learners. I will show how to carry out calculations in many ways and exphasis will be on how numbers are so important in the Mathematical world. I can assess accurately (as you would expect from an examiner) and in line with National Curriculum guidelines. In each lesson you can expect me to show how progress is being made and how. If not then I put in place a plan to 'fill in' the gaps where learners are not so secure of the subject. I will ask learners the reasons behind their answers to get a fuller understanding of their conclusions. I will use praise when deserved but effort needs to be shown in every meeting and in homework/revision/questions.
