I am an experienced secondary school teacher with a proven track record of ensuring the students in my care achieve excellent results. Having taught in the UK and abroad, I am open-minded and amenable to different learning styles. I am a parent myself, enjoy the countryside and am a keen cyclist and runner.
I have taught at a variety of secondary schools in the UK and abroad, working with students from KS3 up to KS5. As well as the domestic GCSEs and A Levels, I am also familiar with the International Baccalaureate (IB) and IGCSE curriculums. I have also tutored undergraduates for CMU. As Head of Department, I spent years attending the inset training of the UK exam boards and, when time allowed, marked papers to ensure I understood the examinations. More recently, I have been an examiner for CIE. Which is all another way of saying that, whether you wish to pursue a targeted course of study to enable you to pass a specific examination or need more general help with your English, I have the skills and experience to ensure you can get what you need.
The good thing about tutoring is that it is possible to tailor the approach I take to the needs of each individual learner and my approach would depend upon what you required from the time we spent together. I can tailor courses of study to fit the rubric of specific exams, ensuring that a student prepared for a given test. If you prefer, I can also approach matters in a more skills-based fashion, concentrating on improving skills and understanding, rather than simply teaching techniques to pass an exam.
