This is how 2 referees rated Howie:
I'm a passionate and patient mathematics specialist, currently working in the world of Actuarial Science in London. My job is all about performing and explaining complex mathematics, which therefore lends itself really well to tuition. I am currently working my way through the gruelling Actuarial exams and am therefore no stranger to hard work, setting objectives and reaching goals. My background is in Physics, Music and Maths and I'm passionate about all three!
I have tutored in paid and unpaid roles on and off for just under ten years. My experience began by tutoring GCSE maths students whilst in sixth form. When I got to University I began tutoring my peers in subjects such as audio electronics and digital signal processing. Since then I have ultimately ended up in a really rewarding job that deals with (amongst many other things!) the tuition of financial professionals.
I believe that when it comes to mathematics, everyone has the capacity to learn as much (or as little) as they want to. It's all about unlocking what kind of learner the tutee is. Some people find diagrams helpful, others require real world scenarios in order to properly understand a topic. My style of tutoring is patient, energetic and fun. My approach depends entirely on the student and what works best for them.
