Personal Description:

I am a recent Law graduate from the University of Sheffield. I have a strong interest in languages in and politics, particularly following my year living in Paris. However, I have always been highly aware of the value of education and I am keen to develop my teaching experience before beginning my legal career.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience began when I was around 12 and used to tutor my younger brother, particularly in Maths as this was an area he found particularly challenging. Since then I have taught English abroad. During my time volunteering in Sri Lanka I taught children of all ages using very limited resources. This gave me the opportunity to develop new and creative teaching styles. I have since been able to apply this during informal teaching and tutoring placements.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring varies depending on the particular learning style of the individual and the nature of the subject being taught. As I myself did not pick up languages until the age of 16 during my A-levels, at which time I taught myself GCSE German during the summer and proceeded with the AS-Level the following term, I am aware that some people feel that they are inherently bad at certain subjects. However, I believe that this means they just have not yet found their way of learning it. Hence, my overall approach to tutoring is responsive in that I aim to help the individual learn how they learn best through teaching a particular subject.

On the other hand if the individual is very comfortable with the subject my approach will be much more tailored to the subject outline and requirements of the particular exam board in order to help them attain the maximum marks possible.
