My name is Hitesh Removed. I have a PhD in planetary science from the University of Leicester. In particular, I study extraterrestrial materials in the laboratory. I'm currently on a research fellowship with the Czech Academy of Sciences. Previously I did international research fellowships in Beijing, China, Washington DC and New Mexico, USA. I did my BSc in Physics at King's College London and UC Berkeley, California, a Masters in Bio, Nano and X-ray Photonics at the King's College London before my PhD. Since my physics undergraduate, I have also been teaching, performing STEAM outreach projects, and tutoring both face-to-face and online.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching and tutoring continuously throughout my academic career for 15+ years. I have taught Physics and Astronomy at the classroom level for my BSc teaching course at North London Collegiate School from years 9 to A-level. I performed undergraduate teaching seminars in 1st year undergraduate physics modules at the University of Leicester as a graduate student instructor. Since my postgraduate studies up to the present I have privately tutored many people at all levels and age groups both face to face and online. Planetary Science is a very interdisciplinary subject that has provided me with the broad knowledge base in all STEM related subjects, with an emphasis on physics, chemistry and maths. I also visited classrooms for public outreach campaigns introducing elementary and secondary school classes to planetary science using a meteorite outreach kit from the University of Leciester.

Tutoring Approach

The key to learning is to make it enjoyable. I aim to rub my passion for science and maths onto whomever I am communicating it to. STEM subjects are often thought to be more of the challenging subjects. However, I believe that their beauty lies in being black and white and unambiguous when applying them to solve problems, think critically and understanding nature. Once the basic principles of the subject matter are established, they can be applied to solve problems, and from there, practice makes perfect! I believe this ethos can be applied to all age groups of learning. Ultimately, the aim is to meet the expectations and goals of the tutees, whether it's preparing for exams, bumping up grades, to just gaining rigor on a specific subject or concept. My aim is to have a good sense of where the tutee needs me to focus on to meet their learning goals and to achieve their very best.
