This is how 4 referees rated Hilary:
I am a highly educated teacher with a wealth of experience at a number of different schools and colleges. I offer English tuition for reading and literacy skills at the primary level; common entrance; English literature and language at GCSE, A level and at undergraduate level. I aim to help all my students reach their potential. My qualifications help to give expert advice in all aspects of the subject e.g. MAs in linguistics and Shakespeare Studies and a PhD in the education of Gifted and Talented students.
I taught in schools for over 20 years and my posts included that of language coordinator in primary schools and a county adviser for children with learning difficulties. This included children with dyslexia. I taught in a University as an English and drama lecturer and teacher trainer for the last ten years and I now work full-time as a tutor.
All my lessons are driven by students' individual needs and I attempt to make my lessons as varied as possible. I will also answer any queries which parents may have on-line. I am willing for two pupils to share a lesson, if their needs are compatible, in order to share the cost.

I highly recomend Hilary.
I could not recommend her highly enough.
Hilary is easy to communicate with, reliable and has been flexible when events have needed a change of schedule.
After only a few weeks Hilary has engaged well with Will who needs particular support in expressing himself vocally and in his writing. He enjoys the sessions as Hilary uses techniques that both interest and encourage him and his confidence is growing.
Hilary has a great rapport with Tom as they both enjoy acting and he is particularly enjoying discussing Shakespeare and studying Macbeth which Hilary encourages him to act out to help him understand Shakespeare more. Hilary discusses topical issues with Tom to enable him to think about his views and express them in a considered and structured way.
A great start!
