I have been a Maths teacher for 14 years, teaching in London and abroad and was Head of Maths for 2 years. I left full time teaching two years ago to start a social enterprise, Green Schools Project which helps schools to set up and run a student-led environmental programme. While working on this I am doing some tutoring and GCSE preparation workshops.
I started teaching in 2003, training on the Teach First programme. I have taught Maths at Kingsmead School in Enfield as well as international schools in Shanghai and Bangkok. From 2013 to 2015 I was Head of Maths at Skinners' Academy in Hackney. While at Kingsmead I taught the full age and ability range up to A-Level and at Skinners' Maths was the highest performing core department with 77% of students gaining A*-C. In my GCSE class 11 out of 14 students gained a C grade having started the year on grades E- to D-.
I have a large amount of resources built up from my time teaching with material suitable for all secondary age students and all abilities. My ability to break down concepts to make them easy to understand has helped my students regularly improve above expectation.
