Information About Helen - Durham tutor
Hello! I am a first year student currently studying Theology at Durham University originally from London. I am passionate about all areas of Religious Studies and aim to help and pass on this passion to others. I wasn't an ALevel or GCSE student too long ago so I know how it feels! My main aims are to teach, encourage and inspire pupils to achieve their very best.
I also offer tutoring in French at GCSE level, specifically French Grammar and Spelling and English at Key Stage 3.
I have achieved LAMDA grade 8 in public speaking and through this I have learnt to articulate my thoughts more coherently and concisely which is often what you needs to do for examinations! I can encourage others in a sensitive and positive way too. I was part of the 'Guardian Angel' scheme at my secondary school which offered mentoring to younger pupils. I was Head Girl too which put me in a position of trust and responsibility especially towards the other students of the school.
Tutoring is about being able to offer the student something a classroom cannot necessarily do; focused attention on what the student wants to learn. I treat every tutee different and individually assess what is best for them. Through this I build a specific programme catered to their needs, whether that be exam questions, exam technique, discussion or reinforcing what was learnt in the classroom. I am here to help and that is what I aim to do. I want to give the encouragement needed which allows the pupil to thrive in the specific subject area whilst also being enthused about it.
