I am a 44 year old primary teacher, living in West Kirby. I am patient, friendly and caring and I am totally committed to helping every child reach their true potential. Also, as a mum of two children, who I have successfully coached through a range of entrance exams, I understand the need for learning to be stimulating, fun and a positive experience.
I love working with children and seeing them thrive and develop, hence the reason I have run numerous extra-curricular clubs during my time as a primary teacher. Some of these involved developing more inclusive approaches to getting children involved in sports such as Kids Excel and others were focused on promoting new learning opportunities like French and Spanish. I am an enthusiastic and highly conscientious teacher. I am passionate about teaching and reaching the specific needs of every child, which is why I adapt the lessons to cater for each individual.
I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher with over 20 years of classroom teaching experience from working in Years 3 to 6. I have achieved two degrees in Humanities and Psychology and a PGCE since 1995. I have worked in two different schools in Merseyside and also for five years in Scotland, which has given me a plethora of experience as I have not only been a classroom teacher during this time but Key Stage Two Lead for Literacy, KS2 English Co-ordinator, Lead Teacher for Modern Foreign Languages and also developed expertise in leading New Curriculum changes within Spelling and Science.
In addition to having my own class, I have also been fortunate enough to lead new initiatives on Writing, teach high ability maths sets, intervention support groups for Maths and English and Booster Spelling groups. I currently work part time with Year 4 teaching Maths and English.
The key to successful tuition is building self-confidence and my greatest strength is to do this, in addition to engendering curiosity whilst helping children to make progress. I understand how important it is for children to feel at ease with their teacher in a safe learning environment, so I ensure that this is calm, stimulating and always positive.
I am very adaptable and try to find the best approach for each child. It is also vital to work in conjunction with parents to best support them in assisting their children at home so I believe regular communication is essential to build this three-way partnership.
As a motivated and highly professional teacher, I am committed to providing the highest possible standard of care and tuition for every child that I work with.
