I am a positive person who is passionate about helping children achieve their potential. I now work as an education advisor and I miss working with young people. I like the opportunity to work 1:1 with children to either help fill in some gaps in learning, prepare for an entrance exam, or to add extra challenge for children who need it.
I have 21 years of teaching experience, 9 of those in senior leadership at a school which was graded as outstanding 3 times. Most of my time has been spent working with KS2 children (and also leading the KS2 team as Assistamt Headteacher) and this is where my expertise lies.
Trust is the most important thing to build between tutor and child I believe. Once you have that, you can involve the child fully in the development of a learning plan that they help to write. It is also incredibly important for the child to be able to voice exactly where they are finding something difficult, but in the same vein, being able to say that something is too easy. That only comes from building a strong working relationship where the child is an active participant.
