Hello, I live in Sunderland. I have a B A (Hons) degree and a Certificate in Education specialising in Maths and English and I have also attended relevant courses (for example in Dyslexia Awareness) and have a Counselling certificate.
I have had approximately 20 years experience of teaching English, Maths and I C T and this has included helping pupils to prepare for the SATs tests and for GCSEs and I am familiar with the new specifications. I have worked with children and adults on a one to one basis and in groups and fully understand the needs of both.
I have had extensive experience teaching in schools and am therefore familiar with the requirements of the national curriculum key stages 1,2 3 and 4.
I also have a vast array of resources and past exam papers and can create resources that are tailor made for a specific pupil.
I enjoy working creatively and will tailor learning to the particular interests of the pupil if necessary as I feel that this makes the work more interesting and meaningful for them. I have established excellent relationships with pupils in the past and have a sensitive, caring and thoughtful approach.
In the first session I carry out an assessment in order to get an idea of the needs of the pupil and use this as a trial session. Pupils don't have to continue unless they are happy with everything.
Cancellation policy - 24 hours notice please or I have to charge for the session as I'll have spent time preparing for it.
