Hello! I currently live in sunny Exmouth where I qualified as a teacher 7 years ago, having successfully completed the Primary P.G.C.E teacher training course at Plymouth University. Previous to that I lived in Derby where I went to University to study a BA in Education Studies. I've always enjoyed working with children and take great pleasure in helping them to reach their full potential.
I currently work at Ide Primary School in Exeter where I am a Teacher's Assistant in a mixed Year 1 and 2 class, I also work with intervention groups in Numeracy and Phonics and work as a Supply teacher. I can adapt my teaching styles to each individual child as different children respond to different teaching methods and I can also use lots of interesting resources which will allow the child to maximise their potential.
Working with individuals and small groups in my intervention work has given me the experience and desire to take up tutoring. I am offering help to primary school age children in Numeracy and Literacy and also Phonics (Letters and Sounds), which is generally taught to 4-7 year olds, however I do still teach a group of 8 and 9 year olds the phonics that they are unsure of. I have also been tutoring 2 children with their 11+ exams this year in preparation for their entrance exams into grammar school.
We can arrange an informal meeting between myself and you and the child concerned to find out what areas they need help with and to help me set up an overall plan we both agree on.
