This is how 4 referees rated Hazel:
I am a professional tutor and fully qualified Science teacher. I studied Medical and Veterinary Sciences at St John's College, University of Cambridge, after gaining all A*s at GCSE level. My course covered an enormous spectrum of scientific components, including physiology, anatomy, neuroscience, pathology, pharmacology and chemical processes within cells and human evolution.
I subsequently completed a PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate of Education), also at the the University of Cambridge, to qualify as a professional teacher, and over the past few years I have worked as a science teacher in both state and independent schools.
I work full time as a professional tutor and have over a thousand hours of experience. I currently tutor over 20 pupils in a large selection of exam boards - from AQA to IGCSE Edexcel. I specialise in the Common Entrance Exam having prepared pupils (successfully!) for a wide range of prestigious schools including Winchester, Downe House, Harrow, Wycombe Abbey, Cheltenham Ladies' College and Charterhouse. Previously, I taught full time at a high achieving, all girls, independent school in Manchester, and, most recently, I taught at the Holy Cross School in New Malden. I have tutored for many years and can cater for a wide variety of needs. I'm also happy to tutor residentially; I tutored a year 11 girl at her homes in Notting Hill, Norway and Venice.
I also have extensive experience homeschooling pupils who for one reason or another do not attend regular schools. I am a compassionate tutor who can support your child from both an academic and pastoral perspective.
As a qualified teacher, I know that no two tutees are the same. As such I seek to establish a personal approach for each student. I take time to understand how the student best absorbs information, which topics in particular they are struggling with, and then use this information to ensure as much subject knowledge is retained as possible.
I take a very dynamic approach to teaching, and constantly test that information is being retained by quizzing students throughout each session on the material that has been covered.
For long-distance tutoring, my methods easily translate to online learning over Facetime/Skype. I have a wealth of online resources that can be provided for these sessions.I believe that no two tutees are the same, and as such seek to establish a personal approach for each student.
