Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified languages teacher (Spanish and French) with a top class PGCE from the University of Bristol. I am fascinated by languages and studied Spanish and History at The University of Leeds with French as a first year elective. My studies have enabled me to travel extensively in Spain, France and Latin America and I’ve spent long periods of time living and working in countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Brazil.

Whilst in Mexico I spent a year with the British Council teaching English language and grammar classes to university students aged 15 – 30+. In my spare time I devised and taught a syllabus for a voluntary workshop on British culture. I found the experience an incredibly rewarding introduction to teaching and I developed close relationships with many of my students.

I also have considerable professional experience having worked in business and journalism in London and abroad for the past 8 years. I moved into teaching because I want to inspire young people to become passionate about travel, culture and the world around them through the learning of languages. I am a lover of Spain and the Hispanic world having lived, worked and travelled for extensive periods of time in Spain and Latin America.

Tutoring Experience:

I am professionally qualified to teach Spanish up to A level and French up to Key Stage 3.

I currently teach in an Ofsted Outstanding secondary school and have received excellent feedback from my fellow teachers and mentors. I have been told that I have a natural teaching persona.

I use lots of target language in the classroom and consistently provide well-structured, differentiated teaching that demonstrates progress and learning.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I place great importance on developing a fun and positive learning environment, fostering an excellent relationship with all of my students.

I like to teach using a range of resources and am particularly interested in the use of technology to engage students in language learning.
