I’m an Engineering PhD student at Imperial College and have always been enthusiastic about maths and science. I have been a part-time tutor for over a year with plenty of experience with a number of students (100+ hours) through several private tuition agencies. I primarily work with GCSE, IB and A-Level students studying maths, chemistry and physics who are aiming for top grades and admission to the world’s best universities.
My personal interests lie in the energy industry and the challenges facing this sector in the near future. I want to inspire and challenge students and boost their confidence as my teachers did for me, and help them to enjoy solving problems by understanding their relevance to our everyday lives. In my spare time I keep active playing American Football and Rugby and I love to go skiing during the winter, I’m also very passionate about food and cooking.
I have worked with several students studying maths, chemistry and physics A-Levels and GCSE's and helped them to achieve top grades. I have also helped undergraduate economics and business students with the mathematical aspects of their course. In addition to normal subject tuition, I have experience with both the SAT and GRE for admission to universities in the USA at undergraduate and postgraduate level respectively. These require specific techniques and practice for the exam format and I am comfortable working with pupils preparing to sit these exams.
I have a great knowledge of maths and science and their contents, along with many of the common exam boards, and tailor my tutoring through the use of specific past papers and questions. I believe this is the best way to improve grades in these subjects, but also find that applying the theory to interesting problems is the best way to understand the necessary concepts. I also tutor mathematical concepts to students not studying primarily maths/science based courses who still need a strong mathematical foundation and skills to succeed in certain aspects of these subjects. My approach to students is to simplify the theory into key points and steps to solve difficult problems.
