Fully qualified enthusiastic science teacher of two years and marine biology graduate of Newcastle university.
I was raised on Attenborough and have a real passion for science and nature. It is the best way of understanding the way the world works and that really makes it a fascinating subject.
I am proud to say that my two GCSE tutees from 17/18 achieved 4 A and 2 A* in triple science between them. My A level tutees attained an A and B grade in their Biology A-level exams.
Have tutored on and off for over two years. I started by tutoring my family members and my success with this is what pushed me to become a science teacher. I currently teach secondary science (11-14 and GCSE bio, chem and physics) but I have experience teaching A-level biology as well.
I believe that any student can excel at any subject with the right support. In my experience students learn much better in one-to-one situations which is why I have continued to be a tutor. I have always found in science that the key to success is to truly understand why things work the way they do rather than practice regurgitating answers without a good understanding, this is when science gets interesting!
Cue, cards, whiteboards and diagrams are the best ways to explain complex theories in science. The best method is to break everything down into small steps and build with those!
