Hello, my name is Harriet; I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2012 where I studied Geography, conducting field research over the UK, in the Swiss Alps and Northern Spain. I have since worked with the British Exploring Society for over two years working with young people aged between 16-25 to take them on scientific expeditions across the world. In 2014, I was science leader for a 6 week expedition to Ladakh, in the Indian Himalayas focusing specifically on teaching and recording meteorology in this remote location. I have been actively involved with the Youth Scientist Journal, facilitating workshops at their conference held in 2015. I have a strong academic grounding and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching to ensure you can reach your full potential.
I have worked in and out of schooling institutions; delivered a high standard of face-‐to-‐face learning opportunities to young adults at Taunton sixth form college, Southampton, including independently delivering lessons applicable to their learning outcomes and tailored to meet the individual needs of the students; included field trip supervision.
Remote teaching outside the classroom as a science leader giving geography a context of place, continued facilitation of learning, workshops and scientific write up for the past two years with the British Exploring Society.
Previous tutoring experience over the past two years.
My approach is based around the individual need of the student, expanding their knowledge base and honing their exam technique through past paper questions, analysis of written work and homework. With my experience in the subject, I strive to make the geography fun and approachable, providing the one-to-one support you need outside of the classroom to achieve your potential.
