I am currently working on a PhD in education (focussing on one-to-one teaching and student engagement) and before that I had a successful career as a school middle leader. I have worked in both primary and secondary schools and at a tuition agency as education manager, providing support and training for other tutors in effective teaching approaches and working closely with families to achieve the desired educational outcomes. I have also worked with children with dyslexia, ADHD and ASD and have developed a number of successful resources and approaches.#/k#
I have taught English, maths, French, German and Music to children aged 5 to 14 and Music at GCSE and A Level. I have worked in both primary and secondary schools across the state and private sector, and have been delivering one-to-one lessons for about 15 years.
I am currently researching innovative and effective methods of teaching one-to-one, and am a highly reflective and reflexive teacher. I believe in continuously adapting the approach to ensure maximum engagement, thorough preparation and positive relationships with students in order to promote maximum progress. I appraise progress regularly and ensure the student is comfortable and enjoying the learning as far as possible.
