Personal Description:

Hi there! My name is Harman, and I'm currently a final year medical student at University College London. I'm currently based in London and am working in the hospitals in and around North London at the moment. When I graduate in July of 2018, I hope to pursue a career in surgery, the specific specialty of which I've not decided at the moment. I really enjoy my course and find it both challenging and hugely rewarding. Outside of my degree, I like to play my saxophone in any local groups that I can, or exercise or just generally catch up with friends.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught for many years to a variety of different students at varying stages of education.

I have tutored close family friends children in the subjects of Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics for a number of years, up to GCSE level
I have delivered A level tutorials for pupils from North London schools in AS level Biology and chemistry
I am currently in the process of teaching 3rd year medical students.

Tutoring Approach:

I really find tutoring to be engaging and rewarding for both the tutor and the tutee. My main approach is completely adapting the tutoring style and method to the tutee. Novel approaches have worked well in the past, with tutees enjoying my style and commenting that they have learnt and retained a great deal of information. I find that creating a stress free environment and putting the student completely at ease as early on as possible creates a really great learning environment. From here on out I stress the importance of learning underlying concepts, then building on this with memorisation of facts, and finally graduating to use past papers. Employing this order, the student should be able to tackle any type of question thrown at them, as long as they have a key understanding of the underlying principles of a subject. I also try and keep things fun and light hearted, and can adapt the sessions to whatever the needs of the student are.
