Tutoring is a real passion of mine. I graduated in English Literature and French in July 2010 and since then have been teaching English and French locally and working as a Teaching Assistant/Individual Needs Assistant in schools across the South-East.
Apart from teaching, I adore skiing, jogging, reading, languages and singing in community choirs. I also possess some in-line skates, so am slowly learning how to master them. Determination is key!
As part of my University course I spent a year abroad in Lyon, France au pairing and teaching the family's 3 young girls English. It was a fantastic experience.
Since then I have tutored in my spare time. I now have eight years of experience as a tutor, teaching English, French, Study Skills, and tackling learning 'without barriers' with young people aged 3-18 with Special Educational Needs.
I also teach English as a Foreign Language to both children and adults.
Having found my schooling a mix of the good, the bad and the terrible I've come to realise that education should be a partnership between tutor and student, not a dictatorship. It should be fun, interesting and relevant and it's only through getting to know the students and their individual learning methods and needs that one can achieve this.
I would love to 'change the world', but failing that I plan to bring a little light to the lives of others. Not a bad plan!
