Maths Lessons in Chelsea

I am passionate about doing and teaching maths, and my tutorials aim to instil that love in you, too. I am very patient and friendly. I have been tutoring maths for over eight years and have helped hundreds of students achieve top grades and get into Oxbridge and other top universities.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught a wide range of students, from those starting their journey in Maths to those at University.

My main focus is on helping students with the university application process. I have extensive experience in helping students apply to Oxbridge and other top universities. I have successfully helped students with their A-level preparation, the maths entrance exams e.g. STEP, MAT and TMUA, the interview process, and understanding what mathematics at university will involve. In doing so, I have developed a deep understanding of the application process and of mathematics in general. I have also built up an extensive collection of resources. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion for mathematics with another enthusiastic student.

I successfully took the STEP myself, and I am very familiar with the MAT and TMUA. I know what is required to do well on these exams and how best to prepare for them.

STEP, MAT and TMUA place a greater emphasis on problem-solving than A-Level papers. However, I believe that every student who prepares correctly can perform well on these exam. This is because the syllabus is very structured, and the question style, length, and difficulty are consistent.

Problem-solving and creative thinking are what mathematics is really about. After years of building up the basics in mathematics, you now have the opportunity to enjoy the rewards of mathematics with these exams. Not only can you do well on these exams, but I believe it is also a thoroughly enjoyable thing to do. I hope our tutorials will help you develop your mathematical skills and instil in you a love of mathematics!

Tutoring Approach

During the sessions, you will guide what we cover, and we will go at a pace that works for you. In maths, basic understanding is key - so before we do exam questions, we will focus on this. I will use as many different ways (diagrams, words, analogies) as possible to explain a concept until you are confident enough to explain it to me (or anyone else... the cat... the goldfish!).

The sessions will be fun – and a lot can be achieved in an hour, especially if it is made enjoyable. Maths is amazing, and if you didn’t think that before,  you will by the end of the session!
