I have a huge amount of teaching and tutoring experience, and am considered an expert tutor with the agencies I work for. My specialties are in 7+ and 11+ exams, Music, Drama, and Singing. Former students have gained entrance to schools like St. Dunstans, Sydenham Girls School, and JAGS, and have attended Arts Ed, the Brit School and LAMDA. I have coached students to Merit and Distinction level in their LAMDA exams and am also a qualified yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance UK.
I have a huge amount of teaching and workshop experience and am highly skilled at teaching all levels. Previously I have had students ranging in ages 4-60, although the majority of my teaching experience has been teaching young people. I also have been an assistant MD on a number of productions I have performed in as well, and have directed and music-directed numerous shows at the stage schools I have taught at.
I have a lot of experience and success in preparing students for auditions and exams, in singing, drama, GCSE Music, 7+ and 11+. Former students have gained entrance to St. Dunstans, Sydenham Girls School, and JAGS, and have attended Arts Ed, the Brit School and LAMDA. They have also achieved 100% Distinction in their LAMDA exams; and 50% gained a Distinction, 50% Merit in their Musical Theatre Singing Exams, under the aegis of the University of West London.
Currently I am working for Centre Stage MK on a part-time basis, and work as a freelance expert tutor for agencies like Dulwich Tutors and Lionheart Education primarily. Before that I worked at Scott and Wiseman School of Performing Arts, Clapham and Streatham School for Girls (part of the GDST), Golders Hill School, Italia Conti Newbury and Kingston College and I have taught steadily for organisations like Stagecoach, NLPAC and Jigsaw Arts to name but a few. I have also worked with students with special needs at Kelvin Grove and Watergate schools. I've also run ad hoc projects for organisations like Eastside Educational Trust, where I am still on their list of tutors. I have a current DBS.
I always try to make my teaching as fun and relevant as possible to each age group, and to individual requirements and interests. I also have a holistic approach to tutoring and teaching, as each student has individual needs, and I have found that there is a huge amount I have been able to bring in terms of confidence-building, which both gets results and transforms the students' belief in themselves.
My training as a yoga teacher has enabled me to bring this to an even deeper level of understanding and methodology for my students. My belief is that enthusiasm, passion and a deep understanding of people is really the key to being an effective teacher, and to bringing the best out of students.
