I am a semi-retired ex Head of a Mathematics department in a secondary school.
I have written the program of study for the new 9-1 GCSE Mathematics qualification.
I have also worked for an exam board as a marker of GCSE Mathematics.
I have a DBS Enhanced Certificate.
I have been a teacher of Mathematics for over 13 years. The past 6 years I have been head of department. Under my leadership the school has seen their GCSE Mathematics results rise from 47% to 68% pass rate.
I am a believe in students discovering solutions for themselves, not just getting them to repeat what I show them, this enables them to remember in a much clearer way. I believe that all students need to be well versed in the core fundamentals of mathematics, this gives them the platform for them to solve the problems that the current exam boards set in the final exams.

I am a mature student taking my Maths GCSE equivalency test and Graham was very accommodating.
His teaching style allows you to make and learn from mistakes, which ensures you have a complete understanding of the curriculum.
Graham has been able to figure out her weaknesses and address these in a calm and patient manner in order to achieve best results. His knowledge and experience are visible in his approach and he comes prepared with materials and resources to compliment the maths programme her school is following. He is able to adapt and be flexible in his tutoring to better suit either the student or the area of study.
Like all good teachers, his motivation and inspiration skills are also excellent and a great tool to address the lack of confidence that seemed to be part of the problem.
We would be happy to recommend him as a tutor, and, in fact, we have already.
