Hi my name is Graham. I am a primary school teacher, who enjoys most sports, especially football.
I completed my degree from the Open University, along side my full time job, in order to become a primary school teacher.
I am enthusiastic about teaching and the development of children both inside and outside the classroom, and love being a part (no matter how small) in helping children reaching their full potential.
I taught PE in a primary school for two years, teaching the PE curriculum across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During this time I also spent significant periods assisting the teacher in the classroom. I found this both enjoyable and rewarding.
After competing my degree, and having gained 2 years of valuable experience working with children I progressed onto a teacher training course in 2014-15.
During my training year I worked as the class teacher in year 3, as well as spending time teaching in various other year groups.
Since then, I have worked as a class teacher in Year 2 for three years before moving into Year 3 at the same school, in Grays, for two terms. After which I moved schools, and am currently working as a Year 1 teacher at a school in Wickford.
I have found in my years of teaching, that a friendly and relaxed approach has the most productive outcome for both the learner and the tutor.
I am enthusiastic and have a passion for education and teaching as a whole. I believe in adapting the tutoring style and tailoring the tutoring to the child's best learning strategy. I can explain and clarify methods quickly and effectively, and break down problems in order to scaffold the child's learning.
I believe it is always best to establish first what the student requires support in, and am always happy to take direction from the children’s current school in order to know the best way to support or move the child forward with their learning.
