My name is Graeme and I am an enthusiastic, friendly and reliable tutor who works hard with students to help them improve their language skills. Over the years, I have managed to help students to become more confident, enjoy languages and help develop their language learning skills in both a positive and effective way. I have had a number of successful years teaching and received a wide range of positive feedback from parents and staff in all of my previous job roles. My commitment and passion has helped me secure an "outstanding" (GRADE 1 on OFSTED Scale) in a number of formal observations as I always work hard and go the extra mile to ensure students do well and make the most of their learning and time in class.
In terms of hobbies and leisure activities, I enjoy playing and watching tennis and also really enjoy learning other languages. Also I like playing guitar although need to practise this a lot more before going on stage!
I am a PGCE/QTS qualified languages teacher, specialising mainly in Spanish, teaching English as a Foreign Language and KS3 French. In addition, I hold a First Class Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in International Business Studies and Spanish, and was awarded a prestigious Cervantes language award for my academic excellence demonstrated in Spanish throughout University.
I have lived abroad for a number of years in Spain, and during this time, I had a number of teaching jobs delivering English classes to a wide age range. Furthermore, I also taught Spanish to students from Africa and Asia and helped them to become more confident and fluent in Spanish.
Finally, I taught languages (Spanish and French) in Buckinghamshire for 2 years, Merseyside for 2 years across a number of different Secondary Schools and educational settings and also in North Devon. I moved to Guernsey last July 2017 where I now teach in a prestigious school on the Island.
Teaching languages has always been an important part of my life as I am passionate about educating learners and motivating them to achieve their best using a positive approach which increases learner's self-confidence and allows them to learn in an effective way. My motivation for teaching languages started from an early age, and this enjoyment and drive helped me on the road to becoming a successful "outstanding" Secondary School languages teacher.
I am a responsible, caring and conscientious teacher who understands student's needs, and therefore I am able to build student's confidence, help them improve their understanding of complex topics, and above all help improve their subject knowledge, thus resulting in better grades.
