I am a certified secondary English Literature and Language teacher with over 10 years' experience in the classroom. As I am also a GCSE English examiner, I know exactly what is required of my students to achieve their target grade and I work with them to build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

As a positive and enthusiastic tutor, I aim to build my pupils' confidence in and enjoyment of English. I have experience teaching a range of exam boards and support my students in ensuring they have a full understanding of the content they are required to know. I understand the pressures facing students as they prepare for exams and aim to alleviate this pressure through engaging and enjoyable sessions that equip pupils with the skills necessary to approach their exams with confidence.

I tailor lessons to each pupil's individual needs and monitor progress regularly to ensure they are the getting the most out of every session. I will provide all materials needed for the lessons, based on the exam board used by your school and your own learning preferences.

I also hold a TrinityCert TESOL and have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, so can provide specialised support for students for whom English is a second language.

Tutoring Experience

I hold a PGCE in Secondary English and QTS. I have taught KS3 and GCSE English Literature and Language in secondary schools in London and Brighton and am a GCSE English examiner. I, therefore, have experience teaching a wide range of curricula and exam boards and ensure that students of any background make progress to meet their targets.

I have taught English as a Second Language in the UK, South Korea and Malaysia and can provide support for those who are learning English or need help with fine-tuning grammar or pronunciation.

Tutoring Approach

I work with my tutees to set clear goals for progress and ensure that each session works towards achieving these goals. My sessions are clearly academically focused, but I take the time to get to know my students so that lessons can be personalised to their own interests and learning styles.

I provide all resources for lessons and use a range of materials (past papers, real-world extracts, digital technology, audio and visual sources) to engage my students.

It is essential that students understand the requirements of their exams or assessments and I work with these clearly in mind. I work with my students to help them develop the skills necessary to approach their exams with confidence.

I provide constructive feedback on all written work and will mark exam answers according to your exam board's specifications.
