Personal Description:

I am a young and enthusiastic teacher who has spent time living, working and studying in both Spain and France.
I have been actively involved in the Scouting Association for several years as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader. This involves weekly pack meetings in my local church hall and regular excursions and camps, which allow me to participate in various physical activities such as abseiling, climbing, canoeing and walking.

I have successfully tutored several teenagers and adults over the past few years who initially struggled or lacked in confidence but have gone on to achieve Standard Grade 1s, 2s and As at Higher and Advanced Higher in French/Spanish.

Tutoring Experience:

I taught English in a primary school in Madrid for a year whilst living there. I completed my teacher training at the University of Strathclyde and have taught in various schools within the Glasgow area and surrounding councils before moving to Angus council two years ago.
I believe that all children should be given the opportunity to achieve their full potential and I strive to encourage them to do so through appropriately designed lessons and resources, differentiated materials, games etc which encourage all children to be actively involved, cementing an inclusive learning environment. This ensures that pupils are fully equipped to cope with the demands of the course at school.

Tutoring Approach:

I wholeheartedly believe that we learn more effectively when we are having fun, hence I strive to create such opportunities through activities such as puzzles, role-plays, board games, card games, and quizzes such as ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’.

However I will always, in conjunction with the tutee, discuss preferred learning styles as well as areas of difficulty in order to get the best results out of sessions.

I feel that tutoring gives the tutee the opportunity to increase the rate at which they learn because the tutor has the time, resources, and energy to cater for their individual learning needs.
