I am in my fifties and now working full time as a tutor. I enjoy working on a one to one basis with students. Having had my confidence dented at various stages in my formative years, I appreciate how important is the building, rebuilding and supporting of self-esteem in the learning and understanding processes attached to any subject.
I have worked for thirty years full time in the primary/secondary classroom, covering all subjects in the primary age range and English and Mathematics at secondary level. I have been tutoring students for twenty years, working alongside young people to improve SATs results, assist them in preparing for Entrance Exams and working towards GCSEs
I aim to create a learning space which is a little different to the classroom. I like it to be a place of calm, yet also where enthusiasm and ideas can be expressed freely. Some students have acquired the idea that it is uncool to learn and to enjoy that learning. Above all it is the place where a young person can say "I don't understand" and know that practical help is to hand.
