Personal Description:

I am a recent MSci Physics graduate from The University of Bristol. As a physicist, I have a passion for science and maths and feel it it important for students to have a good grasp of these (often tricky) subjects! I am easy going, extremely patient and empathetic to others needs. Outside of work I have a variety of interests including programming, climbing, kayaking and walking.

Tutoring Experience:

As a recent student who has gone through the process of GCSEs and A-Levels, I am highly experienced with the course content and structure. I regularly helped my brother with his A-Levels and was often sought out by my peers in need of academic assistance at secondary school and college. I also completed a volunteer tutoring program in early 2015 where I helped struggling Maths GCSE students and successfully improved their aptitude and confidence. I am also highly computer literate.

Additionally, I am also able to provide advice on University applications and choice of A-Level subjects to lead onto this.

Tutoring Approach:

After getting an idea of the level the student is at, I work with the student going through content with the aid of visual graphs and diagrams as necessary. I go through practice example questions step by step before letting the student practice questions by themselves. I will also give hints and tips as to what to improve to gain further marks or complete the question in a more time efficient manner. Often real-world applications can be useful to visualise concepts so I use these where relevant. I like to take a calm and supportive approach, as building confidence is key to success in any subject. This involves acknowledging effort and building upon strengths while working upon but not overly emphasising weaknesses.
