Personal Description:

Hello, my name is Gemma and I am a 22 year old teaching student at the University of Glasgow. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, photography and drawing, all of which provide their own unique set of challenges allowing me to develop my sense of perseverance and accomplishment when I achieve a goal that I have set out for myself. I am a very hard worker and take great pride in what I do, whatever that may be. I am very committed to the development of young people and fully believe in giving everyone the best possible chance in life which is why I want to become involved in tutoring and keep it at a comparatively low price, so if my prices are still very high for you please do contact me and we can negotiate where appropriate. I am very personable and have a genuine desire to do my best for others and I hope you will consider me for the position of your tutor.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a fourth year university student studying Primary Education so I have a vast amount of teaching experience, both in a formal environment in school and in a less formal environment through summer camps and volunteer positions that I have held. As of the 29th June I will be fully qualified as a primary teacher so you can be confident in my ability to support your, or your child's, learning. Alongside my formal teaching experience, I have had a great deal of experience working with children in different environments and, as a result of this, I am confident in my ability to develop learners in any areas in which they may struggle.

Tutoring Approach:

I have never done one-to-one tutoring before so it would be such a privilege to give my complete focus to one child who needs my support. Coming from a background of primary teaching, I would employ an active approach to teaching and learning where appropriate as, from experience in schools, this reduces the pressure that a formal one-on-one session may cause. However, in my teaching it is also very important to me to be reflective and to respond to the needs of the children in front of me so I would base a lot of the planning and learning around the needs of the child in front of me.
