Information About Gary - Bedford tutor - (5 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Gary:
I am a fully qualified Mathematics teacher who is currently 2nd in department at a secondary school in the local area. I have a degree from Manchester Metropolitan University and I completed my PGCE to teach mathematics through Edge Hill University. I have a masters in education which was also completed at Edge Hill University
I have taught and currently teach students of all abilities from Year 7 to A level. I have experience of taking students out of lessons for small group work and have experience of working one to one with students also. I have supported 7 different students to successfully achieve upto or above their target grades over the last 4 years through tuition. I am experienced with the new GCSE syllabus and being an exam marker for one of the exam boards I understand what is required in the exam.
My approach to teaching and tutoring in general is to build confidence in a students mathematical ability and try to make them not afraid to try problems, this is to try to avoid the fear a lot of students have of getting things wrong and not be able to correct them. I try and make it relate as much as possible to goals the student may have and want to achieve post their qualifications. I believe by understanding the uses of what they are doing can motivate them to learn more.

Gary has been amazing for my son and personalised his tuition to meet his needs, covering areas which would be more beneficial to what my son was struggling with. His test results increased massively and we are awaiting a more successful GCSE grade due to all the good work.
I would definitely recommend Gary.
I must admit I was amused when I received a reply to my enquiry addressed to a different person and referring to my 'son' but put this down to a one off error.
Having paid my introduction fee I contacted the tutor again to make arrangements for a day/time for the sessions to take place. However despite a number of emails I have yet to receive any replies.
Obviously as time moves on I am concerned that my daughter is missing out on the vital tutoring she requires and therefore feel that I have wasted valuable time pursuing this tutor.
I can only apologise for your comments as this is not the standard I hold myself to. I’m afraid I have not received any of your e-mails with regards to tutoring since accepting your request.
Due to personal circumstances I can not offer tutoring to any more students at the moment hence why my advert has come down. I thus assumed you were not interested or found somebody before Xmas as I had not heard from you.
I wish you luck in finding a tutor and can only apologise for the inconvenience that has occurred.
