I am Head of 6th Form at Oswestry School. I am a keen sportsman and enjoy playing, watching and talking about sport. I was fortunate enough to captain Wales at under 18 level in 2004, having already gained caps at under 15, 16 and 17 levels previously. I am currently an assistant manager/player at Caersws Football Club (Mid Wales) having previously played for my home village Guilsfield in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance for 17-seasons and I was fortunate to receive a testimonial in 2018 for my services.
I am blessed with 24-week twins who are amongst the UK's youngest ever surviving twins. Miracles do happen! They are my world.
I am currently in my 10th year of teaching having graduated from Loughborough University in 2009. I have delivered GCSE PE and l have led KS5 A-level for PE (OCR) at the Marches Sixth Form (100% A*-D). I also delivered Psychology at A-level for 5-years. I have experience in all aspects of school life having been employed as a PE teacher, Head of House/Year, Assistant/Head of Sixth Form at the Marches School and I am now Head of Sixth Form at Oswestry School. I have been recognised as an outstanding teacher consistently in my short teaching career and have successfully completed the Outstanding Teacher Programme (OTP) in 2012/2013. I have also just completed my NPQML (National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership), with research focusing on sixth form provision through teaching and learning.
Alongside sport and Psychology, I have a strong humanities background. I am a keen historian and enjoy studying all aspects of the past. History was my strongest academic subject at A-level (AS Grade - A, A2 Grade - A), most notably British history and Nazi Germany, but I have interest in all History. I am also able to offer tutoring to students studying Geography having studied the subject myself at A-level. I am first language Welsh and am able to assist students in studying Welsh/Cymraeg as a second language.
If you need help with your forthcoming exams - get in touch! History, Geography, Psychology and/or PE - now's the time to put the handwork in - please do not hesitate, your grades stay with you for life!
*I am currently tutoring students at both GCSE and A-level in History - Geography - PE and Psychology
I am a Sport Science/Psychology graduate (BSc) from the University of Wales, Cardiff (2:1) and hold an MSc in Education from Loughborough University. I am naturally able to offer tutoring in Physical Education for A-level, GCSE or first year undergraduate students. I am also able to tutor students in Psychology and History at GCSE and A-level. My emphasis is on developing the student’s own ideas through critical discussion. This approach fosters a deeper understanding of the issues at hand, and encourages much more enthusiasm for the subject than simply being told what the problems and various attempted solutions are.
I am happy to help with advice on academic writing, exam technique, revision and consolidation. No matter how minor the issue, whether it be organisational, exam pressure or raising students self esteem I can guide accordingly. I am also available for UCAS applications - including Personal Statements, navigating the UCAS site and anything else that might cause stress when applying to university.
As a student, you only really get one chance at succeeding in exams, which, inevitably stay with you for life. Use every available resource to ensure you attain your potential! If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch - I have a proven track record of success with students and being an avid sportsman thrive on challenges.
