Craft and Design
I am currently a 2nd Year Fine Art student at The University of The Arts London (UAL). I have already spent a year in London previously at Kensington and Chelsea College, completing a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, specilaising in Fine Art. Prior to this I lived in Cheshire where I studied Art & Design at GCSE and A level. I feel that being of the age I am, I have an advantage of understanding not only what is required technically within Art but the pressures of the subject. As I have experienced this during my studies in the past few years, I feel I would be able to connect with my tutee on a personal/emotional level and be able to offer advice and support to produce the best results.
I have recently worked with a student in her last year of her Art GCSE and have been able to move her up 3-4 grade boundaries. I have worked with many individuals to help them through their GCSE and A level Art coursework/exams when I was in Sixth Form myself. I was also part of running a club with younger children in their starting years of high school which introduced them to a variety of artists, styles of art and allowed them to explore various techniques.
Art taught at GCSE and A level is very similar and mainly just differs in work load. It is a subject that is taught on a very 'tick box' basis in my opinion, especially the coursework side which is what the final grade will consist mostly of. Therefore I feel in this instance I could help the tutee through the 'tick box' aspect of their work to ensure they are maintaining their desired grade whilst also helping them to improve their technical skill, help to expand their creativity and develop their ideas.
