I am a professional musician now teaching and working in Redcar. I have previously taught violin and viola to students in York and worked as a freelance musician performing at weddings, in orchestras and as a piano accompanist. I enjoy performing regularly on viola to a high standard in a wide range of genres as a soloist, orchestral player and chamber musician. I have led the viola section of the University of York symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra and baroque ensemble. I have performed in pit orchestras such as Les Miserables and in concerts alongside Broadway stars and the New York Pops Orchestra. I have a high degree classification in music and a strong academic background.
I am happy to offer both instrumental lessons and extra support to students studying music theory, GCSE and A-level music. I have an encouraging and supportive nature, and find it fulfilling to help and support young people. Last summer I taught violin and viola at French Woods Festival of the performing arts (a summer camp based in New York) to a variety of students aged 7-17 years. I enjoy working with both children and adults, this summer I travelled to China and taught English to students aged 7 to 40 years which was a valuable experience.
I have a friendly enthusiastic approach to teaching and believe that learning should be fun whether preparing for exams, preparing parts for orchestral rehearsals or simply playing for enjoyment. I look forward to meeting you soon.
