Personal Description:

I am an enthusiast multilingual student who is thrilled to give personal teaching. I grew up in France and I am currently living in York for my studies. I enjoy giving personal tutoring because of its rewarding aspect. Indeed, I see the progress and the success of my student as a personal achievement which gives me an extra motivation to make sure my teaching is as good as possible and as adapted to my students' need as it can be. Furthermore, having lived in four different countries on my own, I believe that I am very adaptable to challenging situations with challenging students.

Tutoring Experience:

-Gave spoken English teaching to a small group of 7 college students in France, while been supervised by their certified English teacher.
-In the context of a charity I gave free personal Maths teaching to students from disadvantage areas in France who had already failed their Brevet des colleges (the equivalent of GCSE in France). The point was to give them a chance to succeed on their second attempt.
-Provided this year Maths tutoring to first year PPE students who did not do Maths A-level and therefore lacked the necessary Maths background to succeed in their Economics studies.
-Work as a catamaran sailing instructor over the summer.

Tutoring Approach:

In my teaching I value confidence. The first step for one to succeed is to believe in his success. Hence I want to make sure my students are convinced that they are great and that they will make it. I always highlight what the students do well before and after talking about what is to be improved. However confidence does not mean arrogance. Another value I hold dear is humility as it fosters a constant willingness to learn and improve. I usually challenge my student so that they stay committed to becoming as skilled and knowledgeable as possible. The sky is the limit!

Finally, I don't apply systemic methods in my teaching, I rather adapt to the situation and the student. For instance, according to the topic covered and the student, a heavily theoretical teaching might be more effective, or a teaching based on applied principles and real life examples might be more suitable. To find out I try first to look at things from my student's perspective, and teach accordingly.
