Hello fellow music enthusiasts/future learners!
My name is Francisco, and I'm looking to teach guitar to students who are excited about the instrument and learning it.
I recently moved to London to attend university (Bachelor's degree in music), and want to resume teaching.
I've been playing guitar for about 10 years with multiple bands and projects and genres, and I'm looking forward to helping eager to learn guitar players the same way my teachers have helped me.
If there is anything you want to learn that I can teach you, I will teach it to you. If it's something I don't know, I will do all I can to learn it and pass it on to you.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or already have some chops on the instrument, as long as you're inspired and hard working there's always something to learn, and I'm sure I will learn a lot along the way myself as I have in my previous teaching experiences.
Looking forward to hearing from you and playing some music!
I have taught private lessons before, and also at a music school during 2015/16. I have had students from 8 to 60 years of age, from beginner to intermediate levels. I enjoy teaching as much as I enjoy learning, and find it to be extremely rewarding as you see your students progress and improve their knowledge and skills.
The most important thing for me when teaching is to help the student enjoy learning.
Techinal aspects of the guitar and music theory must be taught, but not in detriment of what makes the student want to learn.
Music is a very personal thing, and personal taste is never out of the equation. We work harder at the things we like, so the idea is to balance what we like with the more bulky aspect of learning an instrument (and combining the two as much as possible). Whether you are a professional, or playing music simply for the love of it, we should all strive to make it fun and engaging.
For absolute beginners:
Do you know what kind of music you want to play? If you do, great! Lets get started!
If you don't, don't worry. There's a lot of great music out there and we'll find something that makes you want to play the guitar!
We'll find what you love and either start from there, or build our way up til we reach it.
The goal is to imbed the students with a passion for the guitar and for learning, and to build solid foundations that will help the student learn by him/herself in the future.
For intermediate players:
Again, we will follow on personal taste and at the same time fill any gaps in learning you might have, be it theory or technique. The goal is to keep you inspired and eager to learn and take your knowledge and skills even further.
Some students aren't particularly keen on learning theory, but basic theory and reading skills are valuable assets to have, so we will learn it as painlessly as we can and try to make it enjoyable.
My teachers inspired me to learn, helped me find music I love and gave me foundations to keep on learning by myself. That is what I aim to pass on to my students.
