Hello! I'm Fosca, a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge.
In my first 3 years, I studied Sociology, Social Anthropology, International Relations and Archaeology as part of the HSPS ('Human, Social and Political Sciences') degree at Cambridge. Fun fact: I learned how to decipher hieroglyphics as part of an Egyptology module in my first year!
Aditionally to my Social Sciences degree, I obtained a qualification in Business and Management after studying one year at the Cambridge Business school. This course included quantitative methods, economics, finance, strategy, marketing, and many more subjects.
I have studied in both French and International schools, in France and in the UK, and so I am very familiar with both systems.
In the past 3 years, I have privately taught students of various nationalities (French, English, German, Greek, Chinese and Egyptian among others), from age 9 to 40 in:
French, English (as a second language), Spanish, Sociology, Geography, Economics, Maths and history.
I have helped students get better grades for their GCSEs/Brevet and Baccalauréat (A-Level equivalent). I also give revision tips and strategy and offer 1-week intensive session bundles.
I believe tutoring is a very personal experience. For that reason, tutors should always keep in mind the very specific and context-dependent needs and requirements of each pupil. An open-minded and step-by-step approach is always, in my opinion, the best way to develop a growth mindset and positive attitude toward improvement. Each individual needs to be cared for in personalised ways in an effort to avoid one-size-fits-all and normative ethos.
I also offer sessions where I focus specifically on 'study skills'. These sessions are based on years of developing learning skills as well as exam and revision techniques. Rather than imposing my own methodology, I work with each student to develop tailored and needs-based techniques that fit perfectly each learner as well as the subject, and exam format in question.
