I am an innovative educator with years of experience teaching across London schools. In that time, I have taught across the different primary year groups, providing stimulating and engaging experiences for the children in my care, supporting them to become lifelong learners who adequately apply higher-order thinking skills.
With consistent and proven track record of raising children’s attainment to Mastery level, using exploratory, child-centred learning approaches, I look forward to doing the same with your child, should you make the decision to drastically raise his/her attainment.
Being a parent and professional who is passionate about education and especially, the quality of the provision on offer, I have great understanding of parents’ desires to get their child/children into certain secondary education providers’ system. In order for children to succeed in the required entrance examinations which grant entry into such systems, they will need to fall within about the top 25% of ability range. Hence, raising attainment is key to achieving success in this endeavour and this is where I can help.
I have achieved excellent results teaching classes of 30 children, I can do much more with all my attention focused on your child during agreed sessions. If you are serious about raising your child’s attainment, get in touch and watch them blossom in their understanding of concepts, growing in self-confidence and resourcefulness.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Recently, I took a career break in order to fulfil certain family commitments, which is why I am available to tutor your child/children.
Over the years, I have worked across all primary year groups and led whole-school projects and curriculum subjects. I have worked as a KS1 Intervention Teacher for a primary school in the Lewisham Borough where the focus was on improving attainment for children in their SATs. I have been involved in the design and implementation of enriched educational provisions, ensuring high standards of learning take place to prepare children for their KS2 SATs.
Contributing to the professional development of teachers, teaching assistants and LSAs within my school and other surrounding schools gave me a sense of fulfilment, knowing that I have facilitated the process which will ensure children are provided with best opportunities to achieve their maximum potential.
I do not under-estimate the importance of me gaining a clear picture of WHO your child is as a learner, and especially, WHERE they are as a learner. Hence, the first session will mainly be a review of your child’s prior learning/knowledge within the designated curriculum subject. This will allow me to make informed professional judgement on where I intend to ‘take’ their learning and the best way to get them there. Your child will be very involved in this very critical decision making.
Once I get to meet and know your child, I will personalise the teaching to suit his/her individual needs providing appropriate resources to match those needs. I will link learning with the world outside and provide home learning that links directly to the lesson content.
I favour and will be using a dialogic teaching and learning approach which harnesses the power of talk, extends and stimulates children’s thinking, advancing their learning and understanding. This approach I found provided opportunities for higher order thinking, playing a pivotal role in children’s development as confident learners.
Finally, I will use plenaries to recap on the session, challenging thinking, providing opportunities for further discussions and most importantly, use this to assess understanding of what I have taught your child.
I look forward to working with you and your treasured gem!
